Colonization

Postby tummyfix on Tue Apr 12, 2011 1:42 am

I read that taking probiotics and eating yogurt only affects the gut in a positive way while you are taking or eating it. I read that if you stop, then you will lose the effect and the good bacteria will die out. Can anyone point to studies that contradict this? I had always heard that by eating yogurt you were colonizing your gut.

I know this is old thread but...... I've read several places that once kefir is consumed regularly for a ?while?, it sets up colonies that don't need constant (daily?) consumption. So check around on that?

To sum it up, they found 3 strains of bacteria in Tibetan kefir that they considered highly able/probable to colonize the gut and remain viable in the gut.
