Hi I'm Pia and I'm new here.
I've had a sourdough starter for a couple of years now and therefore bake a lot of sourdough bread. I have also made Kimchi before and have recently started brewing Kombucha, which is going good so far.
Now I am also trying to start a ginger bug for ginger beer. I have attempted to do so three times now, but it has gone slimy every time after three or four days. I've read that this is caused by dextran but I can't quite seem to figure out why it is happening every time and what is causing it. I'd love to hear some opinions on this problem and maybe get some advice. :)
