Model-maker from Dublin in search for pickle friends!
Posted: Thu Jul 09, 2020 8:56 amHi guys, I'm 3D modeler for games, sculptor and generally crafty person, that not that long ago discovered keen interest in fermentation processes. As a kid, growing up in small town in Poland I remember my parents restlessly pickling all sort of fruits and veg from our garden allotment and I think it was only matter of time that it will get back to me and hit me hard :how could I live my adult life without doing it!
So lockdown was perfect to begin my adventure.
I got myself two large jars to make kombucha and I'm keep going with it for around two months now. My latest one with Yerba Mate - can't wait if it will turn out giving me yerba kick too! I also produced 3L jar of kimchi that turned soggy as I didn't add enough salt and sauerkraut that was delicious!
Now I'm planning to get into pickling eggs and try some methods of burying vegetables in rice bran as I read in Sandor's book.
Apart from love for pickles that are just the most delicious, I love the whole idea of community surrounding it. I think we live in world more and more dominated by greed and soullessness of corporations and I think organizing communities around pickling and educating people about it's pros is extremely important. I would love to meet like-minded folks. I live in Dublin now, but I'm open to discussions from people everywhere
