When to rack mead for a secondary ferment?

Postby Smileyme on Thu Feb 08, 2024 2:49 pm

I am 5 weeks into the primary fermentation of a batch of mead and am unsure as to when I should rack it. This is my first attempt at making mead. It is still giving off some air bubbles, but has slowed considerably. It is also somewhat cloudy. It tastes good and I would hate to let it go too long and ruin it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I always waited until the yeast had completely dropped and then carefully siphoned off the good stuff.
