To use the lentil spouts added to juice remove the husks. Procedure for adding to juice is as follows.Soak the lentils in cold water for about 3 hours. Rub the lentils between the hands or place in a cloth. The skins simply slide off. Rinse few times and pour off the husks. Place the skinned lentil in a container and allow to sprout about 30 hours, then blend with added juice. For tempeh making remove the skins and process without sprouting.

The common brown type. The lowest cost type. They make wonderful tempeh. I use to make lentil Tempeh without removing the husks, but found husk removal to be simple so now do that.
