Does fermenting retain antifungal properties?

Garlic and onion are known for their strong antifungal properties, but they are also high in FODMAPs which can trigger digestive issues.

I've heard that fermentation breaks down the FODMAPs making them less of an issue, but does fermentation leave the vegetable's antifungal properties intact?
