good taste/smell but slightly mushy

hi folks,
been a while since I was last here,
this thing happens to me sometimes, a little baffling and never sure what to do:
last ferment has the right color, smell and even taste, all good, but the veg are soft-mushy.
there was no un-ordinary foam-yeast troubles.
known downside is that it wasn't 100% airproof and I used a lot of wate-brine (but there was enough salt).
I just ate some and am typing just fine :)
my illiterate guess is some yeast or something got in, but just a little and not enough to really spoil?
any thoughts? and mostly if you think it's ok to eat? my system is kinda gentle and if there is a doubt I'll just cook it or something (damn)
take care all,
Ido
