nettles

hi all,
i like nettles, i like to eat them fresh (and i also like fresh coffee, coke and junk food.. :) ),
i just put some in a new kraut batch.
my question is about eating them fresh from the wild:
i soak them for at least 20 minutes in salt water so as to hopefully kill off parasites etc., but i am concerned about bad stuff from urine of animals.
i understand there are some real diseases out there, and i can't get an answer if salt-vinegar soak is good for all or if i'm chancing it.
my digestion is on the weak side, i get the occasional parasite.
could anybody enlighten me on this?
i thought maybe some of this good crowd might know..
