Ginger Brew: Glass or Plastic for Secondary Ferment.?

Hi there,
I'm a day out from bottling my ginger brew. It's currently fermenting in a crock.
I have a few liter glass bottles with swing tops I was planning on using for bottling and fermenting, but I've read many a cautionary tale against using glass (explosion factor).
Should I go get a few plastic water bottles & use that? Are my glass swing tops OK? If so, how do I minimize likelihood of them turning to bottle bombs?
Thanks!
