Mould or something else?

Postby Dozza987 on Sat Feb 29, 2020 12:51 pm

Hi everyone,

I know people probably can't give a definitive answer here but any ideas would do!

Around day 6 of a new brew of kombucha I noticed something that looked kind of dry/fuzzy on the top of the scoby, but it wasn't DEFINITELY mould, so I left it to see what happens. It seems now that it's disappeared. Can a scoby grow over top of mould/absorb mould? Or is it much more likely it was never mould to begin with?

I've attached a picture here that I took when I could still see the potential mould. Now it just looks like a normal scoby, so I'm confused!

Thank you!

Here's a photo of the scoby now, just for reference.

You're right that we can't really know from that, but my guess is that it wasn't ever mold.
