Hey!
The Set Up:
I am trying to grow my own Scoby from scratch for the first time...
I used a organic raw bottled Kombucha from my health food store, brewed my black tea with sugar (cooled to room temp) and I have used a glass mason jar (cleaned with standard vinegar) covered with cheese cloth and an elastic band (pretty standard set up...)
The bottled Kombucha had tons of sediment at the bottom and lots of stringy bits, which I figured was a lot of good place to start with culture.
The Problem?
I have seen the sediment thickening and solidifying on the BOTTOM of my mason jar, not becoming filmy white on the surface of my jar...Which is weird right? Is it going bad or do I just have lazy scoby developing? haha It's been about 5 days...
Have I done something wrong? Should I just wait?
